The Classic 1689 - 500 ml

1689 is a significant year in the history of gin with the ascent of William of Orange to the English throne. In conflict with France, William blockaded French goods, including French brandy, which was at that time the most popular spirit in Britain. William’s favourite tipple jenever, from his native Holland quickly took its place. A year later, an Act was introduced encouraging the distillation of spirits from corn, and gin production exploded.  Whilst this expression does not purport to be a replica of the earliest gin recipes from that time, it is loyal to the original botanicals available delivering juniper, citrus and spice based upon a grain neutral spirit.  It is best served over ice with a slice of your favourite citrus and tonic.
